Africa Oyé 2015 Event, Liverpool

Event photography from Saturdays Africa Oyé Festival, which is the UK’s biggest live festival of African music and culture, and we’ve been celebrating this event in Liverpool since 1992.

On the main stage was head lining artist Omar and other highlights throughout the day included Sarabi (Kenya) and Gordon Masiala & NKA Musica, stalls, food & drink, arts & crafts, clothes and accessories from Africa, the Caribbean and beyond, also Urban Gypsies and a mixture of local characters.

Thanks to Paul Duhaney and all at Oyé for another great family friendly festival. Now in its 23rd year, Paul Duhaney said he is hopeful that 20th & 21st June 2015 will beat last year’s record-breaking crowds, which reached 80,000 over the two day event.

Saturday started out wet and thankfully turned into a beautiful afternoon and early evening. I’m now into my 19th year attending this event, from the early years being held in Birkenhead Park, Wirral and as it has grown in size at Sefton Park Liverpool, which has continued to host it annually. It’s a great excuse for me to meet up with friends, bring a picnic and blanket and come along with my young family to enjoy great music, a fantastic atmosphere and soak up the sun….. long may it continue!

Hope you enjoy the photos,
Alison
